Nitto performance tires on our 2008 GT500
Stepping up to an aftermarket wheel & tire setup is a great way to transform any respectable muscle car into a high-performance ride with show-quality looks. One of the first moves we made when we picked up our 2008 GT500 5.4L Project Car was order up a set of high-performance tires from Nitto to go along with our custom aftermarket wheels. We ditched the bulky tires for a set of 20" high-performance Nitto tires and 20" Niche wheels to gain a much more aggressive look and improved performance. Take a look at the transformation:
Nitto NT555 Front Tires
The Nitto NT555 tires provide an amazing combination of performance and great looks. Our GT500 instantly gained improved traction as show quality looks that instantly catch your eye. The Nitto NT555 in a 255/35ZR20 size fits up perfectly on our Niche 20x9" front wheels. This combination not only enhances the appearance but also adds that perfect balance of high-performance traction and reliable handling. We chose the NT555 because it gets you off the line quicker while backing you up through the twists and turns.
Nitto NT05 Rear Tires
Our Shelby is being built up for show and a little street fun so it was an easy decision to throw on a set of Nitto's NT05 305/30ZR20 tires in the rear. The slicker the tire, the least traction you'll get so make sure you're pairing your high-performance car with the right tread pattern. These rear tires are a perfect match for our needs as this Shelby will mostly be in dry conditions, allowing us to gain a great balance of traction and performance so we can see what this Pony is made of on the street as well as the occasional day at the track.
