Stage 3 Motorsports 2015 F150 2.7L EcoBoost Lariat Project Truck
The success of the 3.5L EcoBoost in the 11-14 F150's proved that a smaller displacement engine with a couple of turbochargers and direct injection is a winning ticket. Enter the new 2.7L EcoBoost V6 motor option. While it's slotted below the 5.0L V8 due to a slightly lower power output and price tag, like it's bigger EcoBoost brother, it has a ton more power potential with bolt-on parts and tuning than the 5.0L. Our 2015 F150 2.7L EcoBoost project came in Lariat trim with a SuperCrew Cab, 5.5ft bed, and Magnetic Paint. We've thrown more than a few mods at this truck to transform it from an economy cruiser for the masses to a multipurpose companion for weekend warriors. Check out all the details in the build sections below!Pickup trucks are inherently utilitarian, but even with our F150 Lariat's comfortable refinements we knew there was plenty of upgrading we could do to our trucks bed and exterior to help it look and function better. Along with a DeeZee Bed Mat, BAKFlip Tonneau Cover and bumper step, we gave our F150 some basic cosmetic improvements to create a more unique look and start eliminating some of the factory chrome. We are extremely impressed with how our baby 2.7L Ecoboost performs from factory, but that certainly doesn't mean we're going to leave it alone! This truck is the perfect canvas for some simple bolt-on mods that will improve drivability. We popped the hood on our 2015 F150 and threw on a new S&B cold air intake for improved throttle response as well as a Borla Touring exhaust to get a better sound and cancel out some more chrome. Between camping trips, off road adventures and daily drives to work, we spend a lot of time in the cab of this 2015 F150. It only makes sense that we'd want to protect the interior and make it more comfortable. We started off by putting down some WeatherTech floor mats and a rear seat protector. After that we got to work wiring in a new Kicker Sub-woofer kit to put a bit of power behind our truck's audio. MORE INFO ON OUR INTERIOR UPGRADES
While massive LED light bars or big, round baja lights have their place among our other trucks, this F150 build needed something effective and more subtle. In an effort to add both improved lighting and more style we got to work replacing the headlights, wiring in a Rigid LED Fog Light Kit and adding a few other small touches to give this F150 some more flare than your average Lariat. Our 2015 F150 Lariat is a 4x4 truck, but with the bland highway tires and terrible factory rake it was difficult to tell. We not only wanted to improve the looks, but also the off road capability of our truck so we bolted on Icon's Stage 1 Suspension system to level it out. We also threw on a set of Camburg control arms, 20" Ford wheels and new BFG KO2 Tires to make sure our F150 could get traction on more than just tarmac. MORE INFO ON OUR LEVELING KIT, WHEELS & TIRES
We can talk about how great this F150 build is all day long, but it's way better if we just show you! Check out this section to see our 2015 F150 2.7L EcoBoost kicking up dirt in northern Arizona as we test all of our modifications. PHOTOS & VIDEOS OF OUR F150
