Stage 3 Motorsports 2006 F250 6.0L Super Duty FX4 Project Truck
The infamous 6.0L Powerstroke. You all know the horror stories. Clogged EGRs, blown headgaskets, cooked turbos. Sorrow, woe, and heartache. Still, the 6.0Ls were the last trucks you can get before Diesel Particulate Filters (DPFs) became mandatory equipment, and if you're willing to put the work in to fully bulletproof a 6.0L, it'll reward you with some serious power and performance. If you're really lucky, you'll find a 6.0L that hasn't been overly abused and still looking great, like our 2006 F250 Race Red 6.0L SuperCrew Project Truck. Other than some replacement shocks and a bug deflector put in by the previous owner, this 6.0L Powerstroke is virtually untouched, and with barely 100,000 miles on the odometer, this decade-old truck still has plenty more to give, especially as we go through and bulletproof its trouble-prone motor before adding some serious upgrades to make this thing one big, bad, and very red pull rig. With our Big Red 6.0L rolling on a new leveling kit and larger tires, it definitely isn't as easy getting into or out of the cab. We bolted on some N-Fab side steps and added a tonneau cover to keep our gear secured and to make getting in and out of the truck effortless. We also installed a new black mesh grille for a more menacing look! MORE INFO ON OUR ACCESSORY INSTALLS
It's common knowledge that Ford's 6.0L Powerstroke V8's have more than a few weaknesses, especially once you start stacking on powerful modifications and tuning. Since we planned to get fairly aggressive with our modifications, we decided to go ahead and take care of all the preventative work to bullet-proof the motor. After that was settled we tossed on some performance mods and finished up with a new turbo kit! MORE INFO ON OUR POWERTRAIN & EXHAUST UPGRADES
The lights on our 2006 F250 were beginning to look dated in comparison to the more modern vehicles on the road so we outfitted our Super Duty with a full set of Recon LED lights. We replaced just about every visible light on the truck starting with the headlights. All the new components feature a dark smoked appearance which gave our F250 the mean presence we were trying for. Naturally, we had to get some better-looking wheels and tires on our truck as quickly as we could, but our 100,000 mile Super Duty's Suspension also needed an overhaul. Thus we killed two birds with one stone by adding a leveling kit that came with new coil springs and shocks, 20x9" wheels, and big 35x12.50" all-terrain tires to round everything out. The change in how the truck looks was pretty dramatic, and we're happy with the result. MORE INFO ON OUR LEVELING KIT, WHEELS & TIRES
Fully bullet-proofed, way more powerful, and much better looking. There's really only one more thing to add to our Big Red 6.0L, and that's a fresh layer of dirt!
