Before you Buy: What Leveling Kit you Need to Make Your F150 Truly "Level"

There's more than a few leveling kits out there for the 2009-2014 F150s and 2015-2020 F150s, though the term "leveling kit" is used for any kit that adds at least some front ride height, and with a variety of 1.5", 2", 2.5", and even taller leveling kits and coilovers out there, it's tough to figure out just what ride height you need to get your F150 to a "truly" leveled stance. We here at Stage 3 get the question often, so we thought we should do a deep dive and look at different leveling heights, how to get your F150 to a "dead-level" stance, and why it may be a good idea to actually keep some rake on your F150. We've tried a TON of different leveling kits over the years of varying heights on our very own F150 project trucks, and we'll take you through the difference stances and some of the pros and cons of different leveling heights for your F150.

Before you Buy: 2021 Bronco Sport Leveling Kits & Tire Options!

Integrating a leveling kit into your Bronco Sport's suspension package is ideal for enthusiasts who want to increase their payload capacity. Sagging suspension when towing or hauling heavy loads is dangerous and will hinder your performance in the long run. Beyond improving performance, a decent leveling kit will give your Bronco Sport an absolutely killer look. An aggressive stance is achieved when the back end rides an inch or two higher than the front end. Changing your stance affords you the flexibility of choosing larger tires and wheels as well.

Before You Buy: 20-21 Super Duty BDS Lift Kit Breakdown

Now that you've got your 2020-2021 F250 or F350 you may be looking to bring it to new heights, literally. With all of the new off-roading features that the new Super Duty's have it would make sense to pair it with a lift kit that can complement these features. Enter BDS Suspension, this company has created kits that are specifically designed for your Super Duty. From the inclusion of special Pittman arms to working with FOX racing to have one of the best shocks in the marketplace in them, these kits are meant to conquer anything that you want your truck to within reason. These kits also allow you to put on huge tires that add to your truck's exterior. You can choose a four-inch lift and have 37in tires with minor trimming or a six-inch kit and have 38in tires with minor trimming. After figuring out how much of a lift you want your truck to have, you then have to figure out what type of lift kit you are after between a Radius Arm Lift Kit and a 4-Link Lift Kit. They both locate the axle and allow it to move. So what is the difference between the two? Is one better than the other? Find out more below.

Before you Go: How to Make a Bed Rack Fit with a Tonneau Cover on your F150!

While a tonneau cover is almost never a bad upgrade, and are usually one of the first mods your average F150 owner adds to their truck, the latest overlanding craze has brought forth one glaring problem: fitting a bed rack system with a tonneau cover. Bed racks are a great upgrade for any truck that needs to fit a lot of gear for an overland adventure off the beaten path, but the fact that they too use bed rail space where you'd usually mount a tonneau cover poses an issue for us folks that have had a tonneau on our trucks for years. In the past, this usually meant that you'd have to sacrifice your tonneau cover for your rack, and end up with less bed security than you may want. The good news is that there are a few ways where you can have both a tonneau cover and a bed rack on your F150 so that you get both the bed security and sleek look of a tonneau cover with the expanded cargo capacity and overland gear carrying capability of a bed rack. I'm in more or less the same boat on my 2011 F150 XL, but I have a plan for getting a low-profile bed rack system to work with my TruXedo Deuce Tonneau Cover.

Before you Buy: Make Towing with your F150 Easier and Safer!

There's no doubt that the 2009-2021 F150s can tow and haul in extremely impressive fashion, especially the later model years equipped with HD towing packages. That being said, even the most up-optioned, tow-ready F150 will start seeing noticeable levels of sag, instability, and other issues long before you reach your F150's factory GVWR, GCWR, or payload capacities. While there's no way to actually increase your F150's tow ratings, there's plenty of ways to make your F150 tow and haul a bit easier and win back handling, stability, and your running temperatures when you're towing or hauling heavy. Just about any of these 2009-2014 F150 towing upgrades or 2015-2020 F150 towing upgrades can help you out this summer and ensure you don't have to white-knuckle it to and from your intended destination.

Before You Buy: Off-Road Lights and Mounts for 2021 Broncos!

The revival of the Ford Bronco took the automotive world by storm when it was announced in July of 2020. If you were lucky enough to reserve yours, then there's a good chance you're already chomping at the bits to install aftermarket parts that'll have fellow owners wondering why their Bronco looks so plain. Arguably one of the best ways to achieve a unique and stylish, yet highly functional, flair is by investing in LED light kits. Typically easy to install and with countless options in terms of mounting location, type of lights, and the aggressive presence they add to bone stock Broncos, Baja Designs lights kits are ideal for your first upgrade.

Before you Buy: 2013-2020 F150 BOV & BPV Options!

The factory eBOV on the 2013-2020 F150s is not known for being the most reliable thing in the world. Not to mention, where's the fun in having a mean, turbocharged truck if you can't gear the VTA "PSHHHH". Granted, that "psh" is a bone of contention among the F150 faithful, though there's not much argument about the eBOV not being the most reliable thing in the world, especially if your truck is running around with extra boost pressure from aggressive tuning or turbo upgrades. But what does all this "VTA", "BOV", or "BPV" actually mean, and which do you actually want for your truck? There's a couple of different BOV and BPV options available for the 2013-2020 F150s, and we thought it would be a good idea to take a deep dive, since we do get a decent amount of questions on our various BOV options.

Before you Buy: F150 Budget Overland Setups for your Summer Adventures!

As cool as it is to see some fully-decked out Overland F150 with bed racks, roof racks, roof-top tents, remote reservoir coilovers, piggyback rear shocks, and another $10K worth of gucci camping gear is all well and good, but if you work for a living (like myself), you may be thinking whether all that is rrrreeaaalllly that necessary. The fact is for 85% to 90% of overland and camping adventures, you can get away with a lot less. Granted, there are that 15% to 10% that do get full use out all that gear, but there are much more budget-friendly options to get your F150 prepped for your summer camping and off-road adventures...assuming you're not going to be ripping your F150 around too hard.

In Depth Review: Stage 3's 2021 F150 Deep Dive. What Changed from 2020? What Didn't?

The 2021 F150 are starting to pop up with more and more frequency. We even managed to snag one of our very own, and started it off with a road trip back from the Texas dealership. The 2021 F150s are an entirely new generation of F150 with a ton of changes, which means that plenty of parts and accessories will need to be redesigned. That being said, a lot of parts also managed to stay the same, and Ford kept a lot of elements from the 2015-2020 F150s because, in the end, if ain't broke, don't fix it. There's also a few subtle changes, which makes some older upgrades "fit" but cause questionable levels of function when actually put on a 2021 F150. Yeah, it is as utterly confusing as it sounds, and our dear Ford Overlords make it hard to put together a performance site, especially with SIX powertrain options. Yikes.

In-Depth Review: 2021 F150 3.5L EcoBoost STX 4WD Road Trip Review!

Considering our love for F-150’s here at Stage 3, it’ll come as no surprise that we put an order in for a brand new 2021 model as soon as we possibly could. The truck we optioned out is an Iconic Silver 2021 F-150 STX 4x4 with the 3.5L EcoBoost V6, SuperCrew cab and a 5.5ft bed. While we don’t do reviews on every single project truck that joins our fleet, we figured it would be worth the effort for this F-150 seeing as it’s been completely redesigned for 2021. In order to properly test this newest iteration of Ford’s best-selling truck, we opted to take it on a 1,100-mile-long road trip that would start just outside of Waco, TX and end at our headquarters in Phoenix, AZ. If you want to hear our thoughts and get the full review check out our 2021 F150 Road Trip Review video, but If you’re not strapped for time or simply have a pension for reading blogs, then here’s an in-depth look a the new 2021 F150.

Before you Buy: F150 LED Bulbs and LED Conversion Kit Breakdown

The factory halogen and incandescent bulbs on F150s with base lighting packages may do their jobs, but their performance is merely "adequate" for the mass market. If your lighting needs are more intense than your average bear, your best place to turn to are LED Replacement Bulbs or LED Conversion Kits. 2015-2020 F150 LED Replacement Bulbs and 2009-2014 F150 LED Replacement Bulbs give your truck increased lighting output and a much more modern and luxurious look than standard halogen and incandescent bulbs. That being said, there are a lot of LED bulb and LED conversion kit options out on the market, and narrowing down your choices can be difficult. There's a also a few details you ought to know when making an LED bulb buying decision for your truck.

Before you Go: How to Fix 2017-2020 F250 & F350 Death Wobble with Keep Your Daydream and ICON

Trucks with solid front axles aren't exactly known for their handling, but there's a very thick line between "My Super Duty doesn't corner like a Mustang" and "My Super Duty is trying to kill me." Welcome to the not-so-fun world of "Death Wobble", which is the shaking of the front wheels due to issues and/or instability in the truck's steering components. While Death Wobble isn't a new thing, on the older F250s and F350s, Death Wobble was generally reserved for trucks with big tires or trucks with a lot of miles on them that had seen better days. However, the 2017-2020 Super Dutys seem to have a special predilection for Death Wobble right off the showroom floor. There's been a lot of speculation as to why, considering the newer trucks with their aluminum bodies are a lot lighter than previous generations, but it's likely a combination of cheap bushings, weak factory steering stabilizer, and alignments that seem remarkably easy to throw off. Our friends over at Keep Your Daydream had Death Wobble crop up on their 2019 F250 6.7L and they turned to us and our dear friends over at ICON Vehicle Dynamics for help.
