Before You Buy: F150 9.75" Differential Covers!

While the Ford 9.75" rear end is one of the stoutest rear ends and axles in a half-ton truck, and while it's certainly able to handle nearly any application you have in mind for your awesome F150 or Raptor build, it's actually pretty annoying to actually live with, since it lacks a drain port and the fill port is placed on the side of differential housing and has this annoying tendency to rust itself to uselessness in places that use salt on the roads. That's why an F150 aftermarket differential cover is one of the most handy upgrades you can most handy upgrades you can make to a 9.75" equipped F150 or Raptor. Nearly all of these differential covers come with their own drain and fill ports, increased capacities, and revised designs that make them extremely effective upgrades over the stock cover. However, there's more than few to choose from which can make finding the right one for your kind of a pain.

Before you Buy: 2019-2020 Ford Ranger FOX 2.5 Factory Race Series Front Coilover Breakdown!

The 2019-2020 Ford Ranger could use more height for especially demanding off-road trails. While there is an abundance of 2019-2020 Ford Ranger aftermarket leveling options to remedy this shortcoming, you can go a number of different routes. You should start with 2019-2020 Ford Ranger aftermarket coilovers and few manufacturers produce better products than FOX. While we've had great experience with FOX parts to provide enough ride height to clear large rocks and protect the valuable components underneath your truck, the latest kit we tried on our 2019 Ford Ranger XLT 4x4 Project Truck took our suspension to the next level. When you are speeding across rocky trails, you can trust the 2019-2020 Ford Ranger FOX 2.5 Remote Reservoir Factory Race Series Front Adjustable Coilovers to handle whatever the path throws at you. Before you Buy: Rear Load Support Options for 2015-2020 F150s!

The 2015-2020 F150s are some pretty capable trucks and can tow and haul just about anything you need to have a good time off-road or get the job done. That being said, it's not hard to run into stability and handling problems long before your F150 hits its GVWR or GCWR. The good news is that there's more than one way to prevent wonky handling on your truck when it's loaded down, especially when it's lifted or leveled. F150 Add-a-leaf Kits, Helper Springs, Extended Bump Stops, and Air Spring Kits are all potential solutions to your F150's handling problems when loaded down. Granted, there's pros and cons to each method that you probably should consider before taking a plunge into one of these upgrades. Check after the jump for the breakdown!

Before you Buy: 2019-2020 Ford Ranger Bolt-On Engine Upgrades!

The 2019-2020 Ford Ranger performs okay on off-road paths, but when the truck is left at stock, you're opening up your 2.3L EcoBoost engine to degradation over time. Before You Buy: 2017-2020 Super Duty Fog Light Upgrades

One of the easiest upgrades that you can do to your 2017-2020 F250 or F350 is to upgrade your truck's fog lights. Although they seem like something that is small and insignificant, changing your fog lights can actually make a huge difference when it comes to visibility and safety. For example, if you're one that likes to take your truck off-road every once in a while, then a decent set of fog lights is a must-have. The ones that originally come stock are alright for around-town driving, but they lack a bit when it comes to going off-road. With fog lights as with most things you have a lot of options, which is why we will break down the top three brands that you should take a look at if you are in the market for an upgrade. The top three to look at are Baja Designs, Morimoto, Putco, and Diode Dynamics.

The 2019-2020 Ford Ranger performs decently as a day-to-day street ride, light off-road romp, or moderate towing vehicle. However, there is so much potential horsepower and torque that is lost from stock tuning. The new 2021 F150 comes loaded down with features (at least in the higher trim levels that Ford was eager to show off), and they look great. We know this is going to be the 11th berjillion 2021 F150 overview that you've come across, and we're going to take a look at some of the smaller details that Ford touched on that could be good news for folks like us that are probably going to rip the truck apart and throw a bunch of aftermarket parts on it anyway. While all the new technology, options, styling, and whatever else are pretty exciting, the bigger questions are "Will it mod?" "Will it mod well?" and "Will it break when we throw it around?" We're going to take a look at those questions based on the information so far.

Before You Buy: Finding The Right Hitch Setup For Your Super Duty

Chances are if you are like me, one of the many reasons you own a truck is because of towing. If you own a Super Duty then you probably have it because you have a need for a truck with serious towing capabilities. When it comes to towing, Ford hooked up the Super Dutys with high quality leaf springs and the right combination of horsepower, torque, and towing capacities up to 15,000. But the most important part of towing is the hitch receiver itself in a lot of cases. There are three different types of hitch receivers that we can break down regular bumper hitches, goose necks, and weight distribution hitches. Each one of these hitches works with different types of trailers. Luckily, here at Stage 3 Motorsports we have a wide selection of each of those, all from high quality brands. So what product would be the best for your particular setup? Let's find out.

How to Fit a Big Full-Size Spare Under Your 2009-2020 F150's Bed!

Adding big wheels and tires to your F150 is pretty much a rite of passage for your average 2009-2020 F150 owner, but this can become a bit of an issue if you want to avoid potential issues if you get a flat, blowout, or lost bead out there on the road or the trail. While your truck comes with a stock-sized spare under the bed and tucked against the frame, there are more than a few issues with both its quality, condition, and size that could cause you some serious headaches when you head out. The good news is that it's absolutely possible to fit a larger spare tire under your truck in place of the stock spare. The bad news is that it takes some work and throwing some cash at your truck to make it happen. I know because I tried it myself, with excellent results. Get all the details on what you need to do to get a larger spare under your truck. I managed to drop in a LT305/65R18 Falken A/T3W on an 18x9" wheel with a -12mm offset on my 2011 F150 5.0L with excellent results that gave me some extra insurance against possible disaster.

Before You Buy: 2004-2007 Super Duty Transmission Upgrades Breakdown!

It's practically a guarantee that with how old 2004-2007 Super Duty 6.0Ls are that the transmission in yours has either has gone out or is about to. With the transmission being the second most important part on your truck, it may be worthwhile to see if there's a way to upgrade either a part of it or the the whole thing. A new transmission can work wonders for the performance and reliability of your 2004-2007 Super Duty, especially if you are able to pair it with a "BulletProofed" 6.0L Powerstroke. Here at Stage 3 Motorsports we have everything you need if you want/need to go ahead and replace any part of your transmission setup. In addition to the parts, we also have complete transmissions as well. Before you Buy: 2019-2020 Ford Ranger Bumpers!

After you've decided that your next vehicle will be a 2019-2020 Ford Ranger, you should start thinking about ways to beef up its front and rear. The stock bumpers of the Ranger look fine, but don't offer much uniqueness. They look a bit too mild-mannered for our taste and just fit in too much with the rest of the fleet. More importantly, stock bumpers are not the best when it comes to protecting your midsize truck from dangerous off-road obstacles. They also have so much less capability if you should find yourself in trouble while in the dirt. That's why you should consider both 2019-2020 Ranger aftermarket front bumpers and 2019-2020 Ranger aftermarket rear bumpers to take your build to the next level. With multiple brands and visual differences, you have plenty of options to pick the bumper of your dreams. A tubular vs. boxed, winch vs. non-winch, sensor vs. non-sensor or an off-road lighting capable bumper must be evaluated to see if they fit you.

In-Depth Review: 2019-2020 Ford Ranger Baja Designs Lighting!

The 2019-2020 Ford Ranger can be made into a pretty decent off-road machine with the right upgrades. You can cruise over rocky terrain easily and with a reassuring comfort that your truck can make it through. However, when blowing through off-road trails and doing donuts in large clearings, it can be easy to lose track of time. As soon as the sun descends past the horizon, you may be in trouble if you do not have the proper lighting equipment. The last thing anyone wants to do is drive blindly in the wilderness and accidentally damage the front bumper because a large, unseen boulder was in the way. Your fun does not have to end after dark. If you constantly find yourself on dirt trails, off-road light mounts offer exactly what you need to drive safely. While there are many options you can choose to provide this illumination, we've installed two kits from lighting giant Baja Designs on our 2019 Ranger SEMA Overland Build and are pleased with the results. Both kits provide ample lighting to cut into the thickest of nights. The addition of fog lights and an A-Pillar Light did wonders for our Ranger, and it can do the same for you.

Before You Buy: Bulletproofing Priorities For Your 2004-2007 6.0L Powerstroke

It's fairly common knowledge that if you have a 6.0L diesel then the best idea is to get it "BulletProofed". This term was coined by a company called BulletProof Diesel which is located in Mesa, AZ. Basically, a truck has been "BulletProofed" when it has at least four or five of the major problem areas addressed. The problem areas are the oil cooler, EGR cooler, head studs, fuel injection control module, and the water pump. Once those areas are addressed the 6.0L turns from one of Ford's greatest failures, to one of the best engine's that you can have. However, sometimes our bank accounts do not really allow us to raid the 6.0L Solutions section to get it all done at once unfortunately. So which of these areas should be the greatest priority to get done first?

Before you Buy: 2019-2020 Ford Ranger Rooftop Storage!

Just because the 2019-2020 Ford Ranger is a midsize truck doesn't mean that you can't bring along tons of cargo on your next vacation or workday. Last week we examined how much storage the Ranger's modest bed can hold, and what accessories can be added to protect your gear and to add more storage possibilities. While a decked out truck bed is awesome and comes in handy, the top of your truck bed also possesses so much more cargo possibility. If you add a roof rack kit to the top of your Ranger, you'll never have to leave anything behind again! There are many applications made specifically for your Ranger to not only have great carrying capacity, but also a beefier appearance. Consider a cross bar roof rack from Rhino Rack or Black Horse, a KC HiLites M-Rack, or Rhino Rack's Backbone Mount and Pioneer Platform System.

In-Depth Review: 2011-2020 F150 Nitro 4.11 Gears & Eaton TrueTrac Part 1: On-Road & Light Off-Road!

With over 225,000 miles on the clock, our 2011 F150 5.0L XL (owned by Yours Truly) needed to get some pep back in its step. Despite getting a fairly fresh motor (that's a story for another day), this F150 was still showing its years in its driveline and needed an overhaul, especially if we wanted to keep turning its LT305/65R18 Falken Wildpeak A/T3Ws effectively. To that end, we grabbed a complete Nitro 4.11 Gear Package that includes front and rear 4.11 gears as well as a pair of Master Install Kits for both differentials that allowed us to give our truck's drivetrain an almost total rebuild with the extra performance of 4.11 gears over the stock 3.55s. Since the rear differential needed to come out for the gear install, we decided to throw in an Eaton TrueTrac LSD to replace the OEM clutch-type LSD, which was basically only LSD-ish at its mileage. We did the install and then performed the break-in gear oil change a while ago, and unfortunately due to COVID-19, we weren't able to get the truck out to stretch its legs. That changed Memorial Day Weekend, when I got the truck out for a nice road trip up to Northern Arizona with some very light trail riding thrown in. The results were good, though now we need to find an excuse to really push the TrueTrac to its limits.

Before You Buy: Budget Upgrades For 2004-2007 Super Dutys!

Well it's groundhog day, again. Time these days just seems to run together thanks to the pandemic and apparently murderous hornets. If you are like me, then you spend a lot of your days dreaming about sweet upgrades to your truck, but the bank account says, "please try again later". You do not have to break the bank to give your truck a serious upgrade. Despite what you may see, a truck can look good and perform better for less than you think. There are three main mods that we have here that can make a world of difference when it comes to bettering the performance. Those three are suspension mods, tires, and tuning. Here at Stage 3 Motorsports we affectionately call these three the Holy Trinity of budget modifications because they can do a lot for your truck, without breaking the bank. When it comes to the 6.0L diesels, the best thing that you can and should do is bulletproof it prior to getting any of these modifications especially tuning. It is not a requirement, but it is highly recommended. If your 6.0L is not bulletproofed, luckily we have you covered. Check out our 6.0L Solutions section.

Before you Buy: 2019-2020 Ford Ranger Bed Storage!

If you often use your 2019-2020 Ford Ranger to transport precious gear to off-grid camping sites or work site, your space is pretty limited in the cab and either a 5' or 6' bed. Additionally, anything you leave out in the bed uncovered is out in the open for susceptible eyes and at the mercy of Mother Nature. If you need somewhere to put an abundance of gear, or just want something to shield it from bad situations, then you should have a bed rack kit, as well as a swing case and/or truck general storage. When you're hauling valuable cargo, its not worth chancing it and leaving your gear unprotected. Not to mention, more cargo space can only make your next trip even better. With a variety of manufacturers and types of product, you can find a setup that is functional on your Ranger, looks fitting, and offers a unique build to your truck.
