Options, Options, Options, and More F150 Off-Road Bumper Options
By far the most noticeable and intimidating thing about practically any of our F150 off-road bumpers is their huge multitude of options. Each of these bumpers comes with an array of drop-down menus with a ton of different choices between them. Naturally, this leads to a decent amount of confusion which is actually totally understandable. That all being said, once you know what those drop-downs actually mean, things get a little easier to understand and visualize.Nearly all of our off-road bumpers star off with a fairly simple option: its color. There's a variety of powder coat colors that you can possibly choose from, and a few bumpers can even be customized with a bare steel finish if you can it powder coated cheaper locally or if you want to get the bumper color-matched to your truck's factory paint. Pretty straightforward as far as options go. Some of the next options are little bit more interesting.
Some bumpers, most notably those from Addictive Desert Designs and LEX, have an option for "Stealth" Panels or side panels. These panels are simply metal plates that flank the bumper's main, frontal skid plate. The bumpers usually give you an option to have them at all, and if they have them, to get them in a choice of powder coat color. While most customers get their side panels powder coated the same color as the rest of the bumper, we've had a few folks get them coated in an entirely different color for a more unique look.
One option that's nearly universal for all of our F150 off-road bumpers is top lighting. Most bars have options for an upper prerunner-style "hoop" for a light bar or some more basic mounts for classic round off-road lights. The maximum light bar size for most of the front bumpers is 40" , so plan accordingly if you already have a light bar or if you're in the market for a light bar. Many bumpers can even come without any upper mounts if you want a cleaner, more sleek look.
Then you have a lower mount, and this is where things can get a little more complicated. The lower mounts of these bumper are usually positioned in the upper portion of the bumper's skid plate, depending on the overall design of the bumper. This lower mount can be customized with another light bar mount, winch mount, a combination of both a light bar mount and winch mount, hitch mounts, tow hook mounts, or other sorts of mounts. Most of the lower mounts can accept up to a 20" LED light bar and most standard-sized winches from major manufacturers. On bumpers that come with a combo winch/light bar mount, the light bar will be placed slightly above the winch, while the winch will protrude out slightly toward the ground at an angle from the skid plate.
Last, and certainly not least, are the side mounts. There's a ton of different configurations, and side lighting mounts can vary pretty wildly from bumper to bumper. In general, these bumpers' side lights or accessory lights mounts can be customized with various sizes of off-road LED lights.
