Factory Intrusion Beams Restrict Large Tire Fitment

In the 2019-2022 Ford Ranger's fenderwells are the vehicle's large factory intrusion beams. While they are important as a front collision safety impact feature if you get into an accident, they are not compatible with big tires because of their placement. If you are an avid off-road driver, then this is a major drawback. However, if you just completely remove or cut your bar, then you are putting yourself at more risk if you should get in an accident. There is a BDS product to keep your safety feature intact but still fit on aggressive tires.

Allows for Fitment of Larger Tires

Replacing your factory intrusion bar with BDS Intrusion Beams allows you to safely use up to 33" tires on 2.5" or 3.5" lift kits. Stock leveled Rangers are also compatible with this kit. The beams use a low profile design to ensure the tires will have full steer clearance and you won't have to worry about any scraping or rubbing on your next off-grid excursion. Included plugs keep your product unscathed from any dirt or debris that gets kicked up. The Beam Kit uses a fully welded box construction and a tubular OE look to withstand tough trails and look great. The intrusion beams install using factory hardware.

Installation Note: Installation of this kit requires some bumper disassembly and additional cutting.

2019 Ford Ranger

Exactly as advertised, however the install is a bit more involved than expected but still doable by almost anyone, if you have a helper that’s best. Also, you likely only need these if you’re planning to run a 285 or larger tire...it is tight with a 275 but should. I played it safe and installed even with a 275.

Good construction, easy to install once the old ones are cut out. But the rears still rub with my 285/70's. They don't go back quite far enough. I didn't read the description on these so I won't ding em haha.

2021 Ford ranger XLT 4wd

Great product as BDS is top notch. Perfect fitment Front crash bars you just need to loosen front bumper, and for the side you want to work on first, remove all the bolts on ONE SIDE - leaving the other side loose but nuts still on holding the bumper, and slide the crash bar out, vice versa, you DO NOT have to drop the bumper down at all. The rear crash bars you do have to remove the liner etc and it DOES REQUIRE cutting the crash bar in half to remove as there is no way to remove without doing so. The body of the truck is in the way, impossible to slide out. I highly recommend the product, and its half the price as other crash bars!

2021 ford ranger fx4

These beams are a great replacement to fit larger tires at an affordable price. I installed these in conjunction with faction fab 1.5in spacers and can go lock to lock with no rubbing on 285 70/ r17 tires. Depending on how to go about installing it can be a challenge either way. I opted to cut out the old ones, which ended up being very time consuming. The space available for tools in minimal, so it can be hard to get a sawzall or angle grinder in there. Installation took me the better part of 3hrs. (Mainly because if cheap sawzall blades). You CAN install these without removing the front bumper, you just have to get creative with how to fit tools in. But the new bars will slide in without removing the bumper. Great fit while keeping OEM look.

I have 275/55/r20 on my ranger and am only getting rubbing when in revsrse will this fix this?

It really depends on where you're rubbing. If you have 20" wheels with a low or negative offset, you could be rubbing on the back side of the wheel well itself of the plastic trim. If that's the case, these intrusion beams won't help you. If you are only rubbing on the rear crash bar, then this kit should help.

With the stock intrusion beams cut out, will the BDS intrusion beams install without removing the front bumper?

It's hard to say, since we haven't done it ourselves. Most of the front bumper removal is to get clearance to slide the stock beam out. If yours is already chopped, you may not have that problem. However, we can't 100% guarantee that you won't have to remove the front bumper.

As long as you're running some sort of leveling kit (I'd recommend at least a 2"), you should be fine with that wheel and tire combination with these crash bars.

We can't strictly guarantee that you won't get any rub with that wheel and tire combination, even with BDS's intrusion beams, since the 1.5" wheel spacers do push the apex of the tire out quite a bit and we have not tried the combination ourselves.

All warranty decisions are up to individual Ford Service Centers. Given that the rear intrusion beams require cutting out the stock beams for install, there is a potential for issues. Your best bet would be to contact your local service center and see what kind of leeway they're willing to give.
